Bell the Beaver
A rescued neighbourhood beaver inspired a painting and a way to support wildlife.
In 2018, this beaver was rescued from an inhumane leg-hold trap just metres from my home.
After the community’s outrage at wildlife trapping in Belleville, I joined a delegation petitioning the city to adopt a new wildlife policy.
I painted our community beaver and gave the painting to the person who saved its life. I also offered a digital copy for a fundraiser in Scotland supporting beaver protection.
It’s the situations we find ourselves in that create inspiration!
That painting became part of a wider story of artwork supporting community causes.
