Soul Singer
A stage spotlight and a sequinned dress became a study of a singer in performance.
This 8 × 10-inch oil on canvas depicts the lead singer of the Soul Motivators.
I attended a DocFest performance in 2016 to enjoy the music of the incomparable Miss Sharon Jones. I captured this singer in the spotlight, with the light reflecting off her shimmering sequinned dress. I hope the painting captures the beauty of that stage performance.
I explore other moments on stage in Island Dancer and Broadway, Faces and Music.
